Mrs. Dude’s Fund was started on Mother’s Day 2009 by Hugh Weber in honor of his mother-in-law, Victoria “Vicki” Hyde.
When doctors found breast cancer during Vicki’s pregnancy with Hugh’s wife, Amy (who he often refers to as “Mrs. Dude”), they told her that her only hope for survival was to terminate the pregnancy and begin treatment.
She didn’t.
Instead, she gave birth to Amy, fought cancer for a year, and passed away the day after Mother’s Day.
